Maurice goes bananas

Maurice was a monkey who loved swimming in the river, swinging on trees, playing with his friends and above all, he really, really loved eating bananas. One day Maurice decided to make his special banana pie recipe. He already had all the bananas he needed but there was still something missing. "Uh uh, ah, ah! I don't have any honey! My pie will not taste the same without it. I must go now and find some."

He swung from tree branch to tree branch until he found a beehive with honey inside. "Perfect!" he said with a big smile. "I'll just take a little bit and be gone before the bees come back."

Maurice took some honey home and was ready to begin his recipe when all of a sudden...

"Uh uh, ah ah! I don't have any coconuts! My pie will not taste the same without them. I must go now and find some."

Maurice went to the river and saw a bear sleeping on a pile of coconuts. "Wonderful!" he said jumping up and down. "I'll just take a few and be gone before Ben the bear wakes up."

Maurice took the coconuts home and was ready to begin his recipe when all of a sudden...

"Uh uh, ah ah! I don't have any pecans! My pie will not taste the same without them. I must go now and find some."

Maurice climbed up the tree beside him and found a whole bunch inside a hole. "These pecans must belong to Pat the parrot", he said. "I'll just take a few and be gone before he finds out."

When Pat came back home, he noticed that all his pecans were gone. He then saw Maurice in the distance dropping some pecans on the ground. "Come back Maurice!" shouted Pat and then followed the cheeky monkey to his home.

When Pat got there, he saw Ben and the bees peeking through the monkey's window.

"Did Maurice steal from you too?" asked Pat.

"Yes, he stole my coconuts!" grunted Ben. "But he dropped some along the way so I tracked him down here!"

"And he stole our honey, so we followed its smell," said the bees.

"We must teach him a lesson," and they all gathered in a circle to come up with a plan.

Maurice finished baking his banana pie and left it on the window sill to cool down.

When he woke up from his afternoon nap, he couldn't believe his eyes...

"My ba-ba banana pie is gone!" Maurice searched every corner but the pie had disappeared.

When he went outside, he saw the bear, the parrot and the bees having a picnic in his backyard.

"What are you doing with my pie?" Maurice shouted.

"Your pie? Ha!" Pat flapped his wings. "You stole ingredients from us so you could make this pie."

"Oh, you see, you weren't there..." whispered Maurice with his head down.

"And you thought we wouldn't find out. Look, Maurice, all you need to do is ask us first," said Ben gently.

Maurice promised to never steal from them again and was invited to join their picnic after all.

It was the most delicious banana slice he had ever eaten and not because of the ingredients but because it turned out to taste much better when he had good friends to share it with.
